Gather. Through global competitions we gather the most innovative and radical ideas for the future city. Ideas that inspire public art, parks, architecture, urban interventions, and new forms of transportation. We want city elements which encompass principles such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and ecological urbanism.
Inspire. Through sources such as: blogs, editorial publicity, advertising and exhibition, we will promote the radical ideas we have gathered. We intend to attract greater public interest in future possibilities for the urban environment. We want to inspire and engage the city community while encouraging positive awareness and a hunger for change. We believe a collective desire to push boundaries and challenge the familiar are the necessary seeds with which to grow a more dynamic city environment.
Through the SHIFTboston Blog, SHIFTboston Forum, and SHIFTboston Exhibit we will promote the radical ideas gathered. The intent is to excite the greater public and to attract and encourage investment towards the future urban environment.
Implement. Through promotion we will generate interest in competitive investment in order to facilitate these ideas. We foresee new and transferable technologies for the future city growing here and contributing to Massachusetts’s rank in the competitive global market. We envision these new future technologies being implemented throughout Boston. The technology can be presented initially in the form of small-scale urban interventions, interactive pavilions and supplemental transportation to eventually transforming to large-scale projects such as new infrastructure and development.
